Lyrics

Over Tomorrow
She dreams in wide open spaces
Runs free between hope and fear
Loves more when life gives little
Makes time when night draws near

Keep me close, Free me now
Take me over, Show me how

I can see over tomorrow
I remember yesterday

My road runs forever
Drives west between earth and sky
Calls out among pain and asphalt
Turns north for love and blue eyes

Give me reason, Loose my mind
Find what’s missing, Those left behind

She dreams in wide open spaces
Runs free between hope and fear
I lost that love I abandoned
Her song calls far from here

Keep me close, Free me now
Take me over, Show me how

Nevermore (written in 2011)
See the sun, It burns for the night
Trades the warmth, For yesterdays light
Takes the hope, Gives nothing to hand
Rains like stars, On a house made of sand

See that girl, She moves like sundown
Hold her tight, For she’ll soon not be round
Take the wheel, Drive fast toward a bright day
Steal that taste, And pray for a better way

I will not fall down
I will hold you up
We will not let go…
Nevermore, nevermore

Tomorrow comes, And dreams fade to grey
Reminding me, When we both said we’d stay
Thrown like wind, Lost to youth and to time
Found was love, Both yours and of mine

Deep in Blue (written in 2011)
Slip back on down to Santa Rose
Run south to warm skies
Throw back your Troubles to the wind
Steal with me (away) to paradise
Hold tight the love you have for me
We’ll dance all through the night
Life’s not ‘bout thinking what’s wrong
It’s ‘bout doing what feels right

All I know, is that I want to go
Away with you
All I know, is that I want to go
Deep in blue

Warm sand and your body lookin tan
My god you look so fine
Grab hold make all of what we have
I’ll have yours and you’ll have mine
Rain falls and we hide under the porch
The thunder begs to play
A cool breeze and a hammock made for two
We’ll cast our yesterdays away

Slip back on down to Santa Rose
Run south to warm skies
Life’s not ‘bout thinking what is wrong
It’s ‘bout doin’ what feels right

Cowboy Blues (written Fall 2011)
A tired worn old man
Standing on edge of dawn
Peering back on a yesterday
And a love that was lost
A sunset that burned his eyes
They shut tight for the day
A girl he once held close
A lifetime that slipped away

A stronger man back then
Forged from braver lands
Wild and free like the wind
Lost among the lonely sands
She stole his restless heart
And found an open space
He tied an anxious horse
To an unfamiliar place

At times the night shines blue
Among the canyon walls
And light brings to pass
The beauty of it all
But light sometimes fades
As cowboys sometimes do
And rivers run away
And cowboys often choose

Ride me back to her heart
Give me one more day
Forgive me for my wanderings
Let her know that I’d stayed
Tell the stars I loved her
This a cowboy prayed

A tired worn old man
Standing on edge of dawn
Peering back on a yesterday
And a love that was lost
A sunset that burned his eyes
They shut tight for the day
A girl he once held close
A moment that slipped away

May or June
Remember back in her eyes
Over sweeter days ,In a pouring rain
Gave more than hope for a bleeding tree
It was planted deep, In ground too steep
Never whisper words, You can’t repeat
Let you thoughts run deep
Remembered summers passed by
April’s cool rains, And a distant pain

My my love, Cary on your way
To a better day
My my love,Meet me one day soon
In May or June

Summer called you back then
To the warm light, On those moonlit nights
Like weathered bells or faded blue
You gave grace to youth, And hope to truth
We ran for hours and lost all time
Dreams blew, And flowers grew
At river’s edge you held me close
We whispered love, And the stars above

Winter took you far away
It was time to go, In December’s throes
Like snow you laid softly down
Sometimes roses go, When it’s far too cold
I’ll meet you later in warmer days
Please wait by the tree, We can both be free
I’ll meet you later when it’s time
After April’s rains, And the distant pain

Pearl (written in 2011 in memory of Margaret Speck)
She fights the day with defiance
Keeps hope tied to her chest
Slays fear with poison and purpose
She’s weak and longs for rest

This day she’ll live for tomorrow
This night she’ll pray for a way
This pain she holds in her body
This moment is hers today

Keep…..her…..close……
Our roads are not the same
It’s Not the time we that counts
It’s what we make of days

A pearl shine from love and invasion
She chooses to make no bones
Fog lifts from portland’s waters
And light reaches those alone

This moment was meant for others
This body did not break
This spirit runs in her family
This hurt it did not take

Throughout the Days
I carried the hope to a waiting sun
We burned that promise on a moonlit run
You paid for love in paper and stone
And wished for a feeling you had never known

Thoroughout the days….Keepin up, holdin on
Throughout the days…Burnin up , burnin on
Throughout the days…Keeping the faith
Staying strong…..Throughout the days

Painted the horse and threw open the gates
Struck out from Tucson across the desert state
A suitcase and a fifth of despair in hand
Bound for tomorrow with a pipe dream and a plan

Take me back to Sonora lay me down beneath red skies
Pour rains over sandstone wash the sting from brown eyes
Cradle me like the sunset and place my head upon your lap
Let my spirit run like rivers across the bones of broken backs

Burn for You
Run through fire I will burn for something true
Give me meaning Tear my heart I’ll burn for you
From the moment We cast our eyes down
Weary angels Fall on broken ground

Open my eyes, Realize, There is so much more
Larger than me, No one is free, If hate rules the world
Face the rain, Weather the pain, Know so much more
Make a new day, Offer a way, My…oh…my….

Turn the channel When bored for something new
Turn your back When things get rough And truth won’t do
Hide among The lonely and the weak
Pray the hopeless Don’t cry and do not speak

Run through fire I will burn for something true
Tear my heart I’ll burn for you

Vertical World (written summer of 2011)
Livin life like a runaway train
Stealing time like it’s falling rain
Took a page from a mystery book
Discovered more than I ever took

Lost my mind having found it all
Ran for years then I hit the wall
Poured my soul in a broken glass
Told my past it could kiss my ass

Vertical world
I chose to live life
Vertical world
Won’t catch me found laying down
Vertical world

Been standing strong on two flat feet
Singing songs with an awkward beat
Kept my eye towards tomorrows sun
Got too close and I had to run

Checked myself in the lost and found
Hoping an angel would come around
Moved to quick when she caught my eye
Drew her wings and she took to flight

Summer Calls Sarah (written summer 2011)
Truth said, The sweetest things
They come with time
A Simple girl, A big ol’ world
And a chance to be mine
The two dreamed, And chased the light
From Spain to Beijing
A kind man, A mile high plan
And a modest ring

Summer calls her name
Where ever we you are
There I am
Summer calls…Sarah
Summer calls…Sarah

Sometimes, Life takes
The ones we hold close
A new day, Another way
For Margaret raise a toast
From there, Love waits
For just the right time
Two dreams, A gathered seam
And both say be mine
